Most of you have a picture in your mind right now of Chicken Little running around shouting, “The sky is falling!” Our generation remembers this children’s story, but do you remember how it ends? Before we get there, let’s think about that phrase and how in many ways it has been a deception that has tried to mark our generation. Think about marriage, finances, family relationships, jobs, bad news, health, parenting, politics, life, etc. Our response in these life situations has to stop lining up with a lie found in a children’s story and start lining up with the truths found in God's word! The phrase “the sky is falling,” is a lie! However, if there is no discovery of truth, then the lie becomes our new reality and we run around spewing out words that lead others to believe it too. Remember the story…
Proverbs 17:22, "A happy heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones."
This Christmas season, God has highlighted to me the word merry in Merry Christmas! The word merry means to "be very happy and cheerful." It is an opportunity to show joy and happiness. I love that! As believers, we all have something to be very happy about and right now, we can be happy that Christmas is all about Jesus and the relationship that we get to have with God because of Jesus’ birth, life, sacrifice, death, resurrection, and ascension.
Matthew 3:17, "And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased."
After I read this verse, God gave me this thought: If Jesus, the Son of God needed to audibly hear His Father’s voice Honor Him, then how much more do our kids need to hear our voices as we choose to honor them!
