Groups Cancelled through Christmas Break... will begin again January 17th.
In his book Simple Christianity, N.T. Wright speaks of the need for both corporate worship and small group ministry. “Ideally, every Christian should belong to a group that is small enough for individuals to get to know and care for each other, and particularly to pray in meaningful depth for one another. They should also belong to a fellowship large enough to contain a wide variety in its membership, styles of worship and Kingdom activities.
The smaller the local community, the more important it is to be powerfully linked to a larger unit. The larger the regular gathering, the more important it is for each member to belong also to a smaller group.”
It seems common for us to think that our regular attendance at Messiah’s House worship on the weekend is ‘enough’ to meet our spiritual needs. But the large group does not offer the opportunity that a small group provides. “Ideally, groups of a dozen or so will meet to pray, study scripture and build one another up in the faith.”
To effectively grow into what Christ has called us, we need membership in both sizes of groups!
